How to Keep Stress Low Before Your Wedding Day

Weddings rank as one of the most stressful events in a person’s life.  It is normal for both partners to feel anxious before the big day.  There are things you can do to de-stress before you say, “I Do.”  Taking care of yourself before your wedding will help to ensure that it truly is the best day of your life.

Get Your Skin Picture Perfect

There will be a ton of photos taken that you may be looking at one day with your grandkids.  You want everything to be perfect, and that includes a glowing, clear complexion.

If you haven’t had a professional facial in years, or if it is already part of your monthly self-care routine, The Greenhouse Day Spa estheticians recommend starting your facial routine at least six months before your wedding day.  That way, your facialist can see how your skin reacts to treatments and adjust accordingly.

We often see brides start with a Microdermabrasion Facial to smooth and even out skin.  Add a mild peel for optimal effects.  As you get closer to the big day, a customized Signature Seasonal Facial hydrates, improving tone and texture, bringing your complexion to picture perfection.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Your wedding gown most likely shows a bit more skin than you are used to.  Plus, with the Houston summer coming, it is time to get swimming suit ready.  It is a good idea to schedule a waxing treatment at least a week before your wedding day.  The area that you wax needs time to recover, especially if you don’t typically wax.  Expect a bit of redness and bumps for a couple of hours or a day after, but it is smooth sailing after that. If you are used to waxing and know your skin’s reaction, you can wait until two to three days before you get married.

Waxing removes the hair at the root, so you will stay hair-free through the honeymoon.  We recommend doing a trial wax at least one month prior to your wedding day, so you can see how your skin reacts.  Make sure that the hair in the area that you want to wax is at least ¼ inch long, otherwise the wax may not have enough to adhere to.  Make sure to exfoliate right up until your waxing appointment

Here is What You Knead to Do

You have plenty of pressure and decisions to make for your wedding day.  Our masseuse will put a different kind of pressure on all the right places.  Massage not only releases endorphins which reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.  A great massage may also release oxytocin (the love hormone), along with dopamine and serotonin, creating a calm and more cheerful mood. Massage has been shown to lead to a better night’s sleep, since it sends signals to the brain that it is time to relax.

To help take the stress meter down a couple of notches, treat yourself to a Tension Relief/Deep Tissue Massage the week before your wedding.  Even better, come in with your “nearly-wed” for a Couple’s Massage for quality together time and to deepen the bond.  You can even book a spa day with the wedding party, bridesmaids, and out-of-town family.

Take a Deep Breath

This is your day.  Make sure to schedule time for you.  When you take a break from planning to relax, recharge and replenish – you will be ready to take it all in and enjoy every second.
